My name is Rishi Mehta.
A little over three decades ago, I was born in New York City, and shortly thereafter, developed a love for the spoken word and the moving image. I grew up, absorbed the cultures that surrounded me, and then spent four years at Penn State, where the only things surrounding me were Natty Light and Eagles fans. I graduated, completed a few internships, worked on a few movie sets, and then went to the New York Film Academy, where I received my MFA in Filmmaking.
After graduating (again), I worked as a freelancer in the production industry, doing virtually every job on set - from PA to Director (and everything in between). I eventually settled into a full-time production job, but after 3 years of steady paychecks and 60-hour weeks, I realized my heart was elsewhere.
I started my life over, finally seizing the things that made me happy - acting, writing, photography, art - and have no intention of letting go.
There’s something special in each and every photo I take - a story. Every person, young or old, has lived a journey before coming in front of my lens, and their eyes long to tell us about it. It’s my job to show a little piece of that journey.
